Media Den Now Speaks Five Languages
For its first five releases, Media Den only spoke English. Version 1.6 changes that. The app now comes in English, French, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, and Simplified Chinese.
Picking one
You'll find a new Language option in Settings, under General. It starts on System Default, which follows your phone. If your phone is already set to French, Spanish, or one of the other supported languages, Media Den now picks it up on its own, with nothing to set. You can also choose a specific language from the list, and it stays there whatever the phone is set to.
Switching relaunches the app. That is on purpose. iOS loads most of an app's wording and formatting at startup, so a quick relaunch is the tidy way to flip everything over at once instead of leaving half the screen behind. Your vault stays exactly where it was.
New here? What the app does
Media Den is a private home for your photos and videos, built on two ideas.
Your storage, not ours. Your media lives in an account you own: Amazon S3, Google Drive, iCloud Drive, or Microsoft OneDrive. Media Den talks to it directly. We never hold your library, so we cannot read it, lose it, or lock you out of it.
Locked before it leaves. Set a key and everything is encrypted on your phone with AES-256-GCM before it uploads. Your storage provider only ever sees scrambled files. The catch is the honest one: the key is yours, and if you lose it, so is the data.
The rest is the day-to-day. A PIN to get in, and a cover that hides your media in the app switcher. EXIF stripping on import, so a shared photo does not carry where you took it. An encrypted on-device cache, folders, an in-app camera that skips the camera roll, import and export with Photos, and a direct handoff to another Media Den device over the local network. Change your key and the whole vault re-encrypts itself in the background.
Free for 20 items, with annual and lifetime options after that. The four new languages cost nothing extra, which should surprise no one.
Media Den
Media Den is a private photo and video vault that stores your media in your own cloud storage, optionally encrypted on your device before it leaves. It now runs in English, French, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, and Simplified Chinese, selectable from Settings under General.
